Target Audience: Nurses interested in writing abstracts for presenting at Conferences, Nurses interested in publishing.
Category/Sub-Category: Personal Professional Development
1. Follow through on a plan for writing a scholarly, professional manuscript, to share written communication with orthopaedic nurses.
Start with an abstract, which is simply a self-contained summary of a larger work, such as research or general academic papers. A well written abstract is meant to “preview” the larger document, helping readers and other researchers find what they’re looking for. Abstracts are also useful organizational tools that help other researchers and academics find papers relevant to their work.
For NAON, an abstract is the first step toward presenting a podium session at the annual Congress. In this webinar, learners will discover the basics of writing an abstract as well as some expert tips from a scholarly writer. Once an abstract is understood and developed, there are many paths for ‘next steps. Maybe you are ready to publish a research study, or to submit an article about your process improvements to a journal such as The Orthopaedic Nursing Journal. Or, you could finish that submission and be invited to present a podium session at the next NAON Congress. Learn in this webinar how to take your writing skills to a new level!
Education Outcome: At least 50% of participants will report that the session provided information that would cause change(s) in the practice and/or professional environment
